Alamo, for the last five years that I've been a customer with them, have been great. Become an Alamo Insider and you can actually afford to rent a car in NYC. My go-to rental place.

If they tell you they don't have cars or only have outrageous prices, get out of line and check on kayak or Hotwire to see if you can make a cheaper reservation! Went from $95 a day to $16 a day

Avoid long lines at the counter by using one of the 3 check-in computers at the back of the room. Easy, just swipe your DL & CC and they work with Priceline reservations too.

They had free mini bags of popcorn and bottled water. A nice touch!
