It deserves its place as the most visited state park in MO! The rock formations "shut in" the Black River, forming natural water slides and waterfalls. Great hiking trails as well!

Great getaway only a couple of hours from St. Louis. Very good trails for hiking 2 to 10 miles. Most trails are dog friendly.

For a really great day hike, take the Shut-Ins Trail. A loop that takes you up cliffs and through creek beds and has some amazing views.

You can scramble over the rocks, slip and slide through the chutes, and relax in your own private pool. Finding your footing can be tricky, so water shoes are a must.
