Situated in the middle of a golf course, there are lovely views of the church from afar as well as the equally good views of Daymer Bay from the churchyard itself.

Before 1864, St. Enedoc was so buried by the dunes that in order to maintain the tithes required by the church, the vicar & parishioners had to be lowered thru a hole in the roof for an annual service

How this charming chapel came to be here is a mystery, but it is without doubt an ancient place of worship. Some of the architecture can be traced back to the 12th century.

Once almost buried in the sands, the chapel was renovated in the 19th century and since then has found a particular place in the affections both visitors and residents alike.

The church is said to lie on the site of a cave where St Enodoc lived as a hermit. Wind-driven sand has formed banks that are almost level with the roof on two sides.

Former poet laureate Sir John Betjeman, who died in 1984 and who lived nearby, is buried in the graveyard. Betjeman referred to the church in his poem "Sunday Afternoon Service at St. Enodoc".
